From his BMX roots to becoming a seasoned motocross professional, Justin’s love for two wheels has driven his life. After shattering both of his heels while training for an event, he made a remarkable comeback under Dr. Hinz’s guidance to return to his sport. Click here to watch him tell his story in a short video.
“I was injured in a head-on vehicle crash June of 2017. I had a broken hip, shattered ankle, and lisfranc fracture. From the day I met with Dr. Hinz in the hospital he was very honest, straightforward, and knowledgeably explained to me the severity of my injuries and my options in a way I could understand to make informed decisions. I felt confident in him from the start. Dr. Hinz skill as a surgeon has been remarkable. I can’t say enough good things about him and his team. Every step of the way they were available to answer questions or take care of needs I had. I will never be the same as I was previously but Dr. Hinz has given me the opportunity to live life with relatively minor limitations considering the severity of my injuries.” – Chris Lane
“Dr. Hinz performed a total left hip replacement on me in late April 2017. I had a lot of pain just walking anywhere prior to the surgery. Today, five months later I hiked Misery Ridge in Smith Rock State Park with absolutely NO problems at all. Thank you Dr. Hinz!” – Pat Marshall
“Dr. Hinz and the staff at the Center have consistently outperformed other providers in the area, and I feel that’s exemplary because I think we’re blessed with good care in Central Oregon in general. Dr. Hinz in particular has made the process inclusive, something that many others have lost sight of in this age of the heavy hand of insurance companies. Thanks to the doctor and staff, and hoping you have a great set of holidays!”
“I crashed my mountain bike near Horse Ridge just east of Bend just over a year ago. When I realized I couldn’t move my leg, my friends took me to the Emergency Room. The doctor took x-rays and it appeared much more damaged than anyone expected. Dr. Hinz came in for a consult and gave me a clear idea of what was going on and informed me of my options to repair my shattered pelvis. The injury required two surgeries; during the second he was also able to repair my broken collarbone. He told me it would be a long recovery, a year to 18 months before I would fully regain function. After a year, I am finally able to run again, but instead of doing 12-15 mile runs, I am doing 4-7 mile runs. I am still doing physical therapy and other body work to improve muscle strength and the damaged nerves. I’m looking forward to increasing my performance level over the next six months and just signed up for a half marathon in June. It took a team approach to guide my recovery. I am grateful for Dr. Hinz, his MA, Maggie, my physical therapist, and the other medical professionals that have helped get me back to doing what is important to me. While I have been gaining strength through this recovery process, going on runs with my dog Bentley is inspiring me forward.” – Dave Bilyeu
